Where to Buy Groceries Before Your Hocking Hills Cabin

The practical grocery guide for Hocking Hills cabin trips: where to make a full Logan stock-up, where to grab forgotten items near the park, and what to buy before you lose cell service.

The easiest way to make a Hocking Hills cabin trip more expensive and more annoying is to arrive in the hills without food. The park itself has no full grocery store, cell service becomes unreliable south of Logan, and a “quick grocery run” from a remote cabin can turn into an hour of backtracking.

Walmart Supercenter — Logan

12910 State Route 664 S, Logan. This is one of the easiest full-stock stops if you're coming off US-33 and heading directly toward Hocking Hills on SR-664. Current hours are 6 a.m.–11 p.m. daily.

Best for: a complete cabin stock-up, household supplies, coolers, forgotten clothing, pharmacy-type basics and late-arrival shopping.

Kroger — Logan

31550 Chieftain Drive, Logan. Kroger currently operates one Logan location, with grocery pickup available. Current store hours are 6 a.m.–11 p.m. daily.

Best for: a normal full grocery run, produce, meat, prepared foods and pickup orders you can schedule before arrival.

Save A Lot — Logan

35107 Hocking Drive, Logan. Current hours are generally 8 a.m.–9 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 9 a.m.–7 p.m. Sunday.

Best for: budget-minded cabin cooking and a smaller full-grocery alternative.

Grandma Faye's Grocery — SR-664 South

20507 OH-664 S, Logan. Grandma Faye's sits farther south on the tourist corridor toward the park and is useful when you've already left town. Current business data lists daily hours around 8 a.m.–8 p.m.

Best for: forgotten groceries, camping supplies, drinks and convenience items without driving all the way back into Logan.

Old Man's Cave General Store

18809 OH-664, Logan. This is a convenience-style stop close to the main park corridor rather than a substitute for a full supermarket. Current business data shows opening around 8 a.m., with closing time varying by day.

Best for: the thing you forgot, not the week's grocery order.

Young's Family Market — Laurelville

15986 OH-56 E, Laurelville. If you are entering the region from the west through Laurelville instead of Logan, Young's is the practical full-grocery stop. Current hours are generally 8 a.m.–8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Sunday.

The cabin grocery list people actually forget

  • Coffee and filters compatible with the cabin's machine
  • Cooking oil, butter and basic seasoning
  • Ice
  • Breakfast for the first morning
  • Trail snacks
  • Bottled or refillable drinking water
  • Foil and food-storage bags
  • Charcoal or grilling supplies if the property requires them
  • Firewood only where legal and appropriate; local wood is best
  • Food for Sunday morning if your checkout is early

If your rental has a hot tub and full kitchen, one planned grocery stop can eliminate several unnecessary drives during the trip.
